Known for its cool and clean waters, New Zealand supplies a delicious selection of seafood products. The scampi (Metanephrops challengeri) is one of the most popular. Although it looks like a prawn, it’s actually part of the lobster family. With firm white flesh, this delicacy has a sweet juicy taste.
Our scampi are wild caught using specialised deep-water trawlers at depths between 200 and 750 metres. Scampi are processed and snap frozen at sea ensuring we capture the freshness and sweet delicate taste. The largest fishing areas are around the Auckland Islands, but other important scampi grounds are located off the east coast of New Zealand’s North and South Islands.
